I can’t really wrap my head around the real meaning of Christmas. Not only does it tell the story of God sending His Son to be the Savior of the world, not only do we find out that He came as a man and lived among us, grew up to be despised, ridiculed, spat upon, hated, nailed to a cross—and all of that willingly—but when all was said and done, Jesus the Son of God chose to call me His intimate friend.
My soul fills up with “giddy” joy when I consider the following:
~Christmas is the very first door to fellowship with God Almighty
~Christmas is the announcement of salvation from my sins
~ Christmas is the announcement of salvation from myself
~ Christmas is the announcement of salvation from an enemy too big for me
~Christmas tells me that the King of kings humbled Himself to the point of becoming a man for the sake of obedience to His Father.
~ Christmas tells me that the King of kings humbled Himself to the point of becoming a man for the joy of purchasing me back for Himself.
~Christmas shouts of the King of kings’ love for me. I am worth it. Did you hear that? He thinks I am worth it!
~Christmas displays God’s amazing faithfulness to His Word and purposes
~Christmas whispers in my heart that I will never, ever be alone
~Christmas reminds me that I am involved in something way bigger than me, but I very much have a part in it
I am speechless when I consider that God would choose me as His dwelling place, and that He actually likes hanging out with me…
Sso this Christmas, I am going to thoroughly take pleasure in the gooey feelings that I get when all my family is around me, I am going to love giving those gifts I handpicked for them, I am going to slowly enjoy every cookie that comes my way, I will let my ears and eyes be filled with the magic of the season, but I will also allow my heart to be filled to overflow with gratitude to the One who is my All in all.
I love You Jesus.
