Reality Party

I am having a reality party, and you are invited.

No Tupperware, Mary Kay, Jewelry, Pampered Chef items. No books to read and analyze, no talk to give, no specific dress code necessary.

All you need to bring is the real you. Not the made up, fake, ready to be acceptable, polite and looking-for-approval you. Not the “I-am-trying-to-make-you-like-me” you.

Just you.

Plain,simple, real.

Funny, sensitive, caring, ticklish you.

Smart, witty, organized, disorganized, tasteful and tasteless you.

A bit complaining, somewhat hypochondriac you.

When you get here, let’s have a cup of coffee. Or herbal tea. Or a glass of Cabernet–I like it very, very dry. And we’ll be real together. With all the tears, and the giggles and the raw pain of life.

We’ll tell it like it is.

And there will be no rules.

But one:no matter where the conversation goes, we will always have to end with the truest of truth: the Word of God.

Because there really isn’t any other place for us to end.

Will you come?

  1. I’ll be there! : )
That kind of fellowship is sweet, and since I’ve moved all of my life, I know it isn’t always available. But thanks for this reminder that it’s one of those good realities in life.

  2. Count me in! Sounds wonderful. By the way, I’m curious to know where your cover photo was taken. For three years of my childhood, I lived on the island of Newfoundland. This picture reminds me of my time there. Thanks for the post!

  5. Thanks for sharing this at the Show Off Blog Party! Ironically, I was having this conversation with a few of my employees today AND my church members. It’s a sign from God :). Thanks, again and as always I look forward to more 🙂

  6. Funny…we say we want reality, but I’m not so sure we always do. We want the privilege of being real with someone else, of opening our heart to them and being understood, but do we really often want to see the disorganization or dirt in theirs, or to look a crumbling world square in the face? That is a harder road. But, after all of that, it is a worthy venture. Yes, it is.

  7. That is something to really think about -“the real you”. Too often, we have to wear so many hats. But, at the end of the day, the hats have to come off and we have to face, “The real self”.

  8. Oh how lovely! Yes, I will be there! 🙂 What a blessing it is to sit and share with sisters in Christ, isn’t it? Sometimes you laugh, sometimes you cry but always you just have such a sweet bond in the Lord!

Thanks so much for linking up to the “Making Your Home Sing Monday” linky party today! 🙂

And I’ll bring you a bottle of Joel Gott or Layer Cake. Or your favorite?

And yes, we’ll talk about Him and the truth that sets us all free.
