April 2014 Letter–Dear Slow Cooker

March 2014 Letter–Dear Slow Cooker,

I love you!

You have saved so many dinners, and made my life so much easier this winter. There’s nothing like coming home after a long day and finding you on the job, ready to dish out some delicious concoction that you’ve spent all day creating. And I love being welcomed in the door by the yummy aroma of you. You make my home feel cozy, and you set me up for a relaxing evening.

And even though these benefits of your presence are pretty cool, there is so much more to you. Because you have become a sign to me; and a glimpse of hope; and a joy to come. Because when I watch you do your thing, I am forced to remember that good things take time. And that time is a good thing. And when I partake of the fruit of your labor, my taste buds remind me that the slow blending of ingredients is the key to your success, and that it’s all worth it.

And if the truth be told, I had very little to do with what you produced. I simply gave you raw material, and you are the one who turned it into scrumptousness. And every time I experience your magic, I smile from ear to ear, because I remember that God is like that with me. He only wants me to give Him me, a diamond in the very, very rough, the raw materials of who I am. And He is the One who will turn me into Loveliness.

Dear Crockpot, thank you for all that you are to me.

  1. Me, too. You have revolutionized how I view my crock pot! We should design one that says “Good things take time.”

  2. I liked your illustration of the crock pot and slow cooking takes time!!

Thank you for your entry at “Tell Me a Story.” I have been off line due to computer failure and virus problems, but my husband gave me a different computer so I am back on line – just lost a bunch of stuff including my e-mail addresses..
Please return Monday around 5:00PM PST when the new week will be open for your story at: http://letmetelluastory.blogspot.com/

I would love to hear your reaction to this post.
