Sun Rise

topSometimes, it feels as though this world is turning faster and faster, like a top out of control, and I am not sure where to hold on anymore because even my anchors seem to change quicker than I can wrap my head around…And I know that His Word doesn’t change and that should be good enough, and it really, really is. I can rest my very life on that Word. And I do.

But sometimes–and it might just be a lack of faith, or a sign that I am very, very human–I need reassurance in the middle of the week.  And I know that in the grand scheme of things, I am going to be okay.  Yet I need to be reminded that this spinning world still makes sense, and that I am at the right place at the right time, and that this life of mine is about more than getting up to go to work to earn the money to buy the bread to come home to eat the bread so I can sleep and get up to go to work to earn the money to buy the bread to come home to eat the bread so I can sleep and get up to go to work to buy the bread.

And that’s when God tells me that nothing can stop the rising sun. Nothing. At. All. No man, no machine, no power, no thing. Not a thing.

sun2The sun will come up tomorrow. And the day after. As long as God sees fit to let it rise. And no amount of world-spinning, time-stealing daily tasks will change the rising sun. Because it’s up to God, the One Who set it all in motion. The One Who controls it all. The One Who speaks and it is done.

The One who can stop time if He chooses to. The One Who holds my heart and knows my name.

Nothing can stop the rising sun. It is well with my soul.
