Uphill Both Ways

Sometimes, that’s exactly what living feels like: exhausting, uphill forever, like it’s never going t slow down and there will never going to be a time to just sit and rest.

uphillAnd this uphill stuff, it gets old after a while. You know? Enough is enough…

For those moments, God gives living water. Water that refreshes down to the toes.

And sometimes, there seems to be no words to comfort the broken heart of a friend, because even though words hold truth, they feel like a cliche answer for the moment. You know? And crying together might be better for a while.

At those moments, God knows how to turn those tears into living water to share together. And those tears, they may just refresh us down to our toes.

And sometimes, I don’t understand me. and can be such a mess, choosing poorly, digging my own grave willingly, and I don’t like myself very much. You know? Like, who is this lady inside of me?

For those moments, God gives me living water that knows how to wash foolishness and flesh away. Living water that refreshes me down to my toes.

That living water, it floods me with truth. It flushes darkness away. And that living water, it comes from eternity, and it fills me with hope.

  1. Oh yes. I love, I need, all these forms of living water. And you’re so right – even true words can feel cliche in moments of pain, and tears together can be the living water that refreshes. Thank you for this.
