We wait, dreaming of her beautiful little face, tiny fingers and adorable nose. And we wait, dreaming of her giggles and hugs and discoveries of the beauties all around.

We talk about how her sister will react, and the nursery crafted with love, and her temporary home becoming a little tight, and we laugh, saying she might just want to venture out early.

And the waiting is easy.

Until it’s not.

Because the minutes start to feel like hours and the hours like hot, sticky summer days. Gracie has stopped moving around much, there isn’t any more room for her to stretch.

And Gracie’s Momma, she slows down a bit, concentrating on loving on Gracie’s sister, and she puts the finishing touches on the nursery and sings to both her girls, and prays for both her girls.

The days on the calendar, they seem to not want to move. But they do, ever so slowly. And then, we go past the day we were waiting for, and nothing happens. And the waiting becomes challenging.

And God, He’s got it all planned out. So we weave trust in the waiting, and humor too.

And Gracie, she is just hanging out until God says it’s time. She’s wise that way. I like her already.
