I love you very, very much.
I know that you are simply little sticks thrown in a box, yet you bring me such hope. You are a forever reminder that small doesn’t mean insignificant, that small has a huge potential.
One small match can start a fire to keep me warm all night, and one small match makes all the difference when it’s pitch black outside.
You are a light in the darkness, no matter how tiny you are. And your potential is amazing. I remember my house fire so many years ago, and how loud the fire screamed as it ate through everything we owned. And that fire that turned our lives around, it started with one of you. That fire, it taught me that ugly can turn into absolutely fabulous.
When I hold you in my hand, I hear wisdom whisper that there are some unchangeable truths, and I ought to take heart:
Light disarms darkness, no matter how small it is,
and water always cures dryness,
and love always deals with fear.
Your smallness speaks hope to me. Because small doesn’t mean powerless, and small can be the seed for the gigantic, and small is always good in the beginning.
Thank you for all that you are to me.
